This page has not been updated to version 0.9.9.5 and requires significant work in order to get there. In particular, some badges were removed, others added, and many changed their requirements. Please do what you can to help and edit: until then, take everything you see here with a grain of salt.

Badges are the necessary "replay value" component of DoomRL. There are a total of 130 badges, split into five categories:

  • Bronze badges are the easiest to achieve. Anyone should be able to get these after they start playing the game.
  • Silver badges are the "medium" set of badges to achieve. They are a bit harder and more luck-based than the bronze, but the average player should get all of these over time.
  • Gold badges are middle ground, but are certainly the beginning of a difficult road ahead, with many requiring Ultra-violence victories. The average player should strive to get all of these as a long term goal in their quest to become a veteran.
  • Platinum badges are the hard ones, forcing you to challenge yourself on the Nightmare! difficulty. A normal player shouldn't get more then a handful of these in their field of expertise, and veterans will have significant trouble scrounging up the rest.
  • Diamond badges are, contrary to their name, the roughest of the rough. Though not quite as impossible as they used to be, they require not only a veteran's worth of experience but a great deal of luck at the same time. If you obtain one of these, it is highly recommended that you post your mortem on the Chaosforge forums as proof, for it is quite a boast to say that you have gained a Diamond badge.

Badges improve your skill rank and are necessary to gain access to all of the difficulties and challenges in DoomRL.
