Badges

In 0.9.9, badges are used to gain ranks and unlock new challenges, like how you had to fulfill certain conditions to gain ranks in previous versions. There is a LOT more freedom with this new system, as you can see from Ranks. It also means that if you're stuck on one particular challenge, you can just unlock a different badge to level up.
Medals, another type of reward, are on a separate page. There is also a strategies page which mentions which diamond badges have been achieved.

[edit] Bronze Badges
These are the easiest badges to achieve. Kornel says that anyone can get these, really.
- UAC Bronze Badge - Win Standard game on any Difficulty. (That is, not angel of whatever)
- Veteran Bronze Badge - Win game on any difficulty with 100% kills
- Strongman Bronze Badge - Win Standard game using basic melee weapons. (Fists, knife, and chainsaw; modding is OK)
- Berserker Bronze Badge - Reach level 5 on Angel of Berserk (Dungeon level, not character level)
- Marksman Bronze Badge - Reach level 12 on Angel of Marksmanship
- Shottyman Bronze Badge - Reach level 12 on Angel of Shotgunnery
- Lightfoot Bronze Badge - Reach level 12 on Angel of Light Travel
- Eagerness Bronze Badge - Reach level 12 on Angel of Impatience
- Runner Bronze Badge - Reach level 8 on Angel of Haste (That's level 16 in a normal game)
- Inquisitor Bronze Badge - Reach level 12 on Angel of Purity
- Quartermaster Bronze Badge - Reach level 12 on Angel of Red Alert
- Destroyer Bronze Badge - Reach level 12 on Angel of Max Carnage
- Brick Bronze Badge - Clear out The Wall.
- Skull Bronze Badge - Clear out City of Skulls
- Reaper Bronze Badge - Enter the Mortuary
- Lava Bronze Badge - Clear out the Lava Pits
- Arena Bronze Badge - Complete Hell's Arena
- Scavenger Bronze Badge - Find the Vaults (Enter and leave)
- Arachno Bronze Badge - Clear out Spider's Lair

These are the second easiest set of badges to achieve. They are a bit harder and more luck-based then the Bronze Badges. Kornel says that the average player should get all of these with relative ease.
- UAC Silver Badge - Win Standard game on Hurt me Plenty. (Or any higher difficulty)
- Veteran Silver Badge - Win game on Hurt me Plenty with 100% kills
- Strongman Silver Badge - Win Standard game using knives and fists. (Modding is still OK, as is Easy)
- Berserker Silver Badge - Reach level 15 on Angel of Berserk
- Marksman Silver Badge - Complete Angel of Marksmanship (Win a game on it)
- Shottyman Silver Badge - Complete Angel of Shotgunnery
- Lightfoot Silver Badge - Complete Angel of Light Travel on HMP (Short for Hurt me Plenty)
- Eagerness Silver Badge - Complete Angel of Impatience
- Runner Silver Badge - Complete Angel of Haste
- Inquisitor Silver Badge - Complete Angel of Purity
- Quartermaster Silver Badge - Complete Angel of Red Alert
- Destroyer Silver Badge - Complete Angel of Max Carnage
- Brick Silver Badge - Clear out The Wall on AoMr or AoB (Just using pistols or chainsaw isn't enough; you have to actually be playing the Angel)
- Skull Silver Badge - Clear out City of Skulls on UV
- Reaper Silver Badge - Enter the Mortuary and exit alive
- Lava Silver Badge - Clear out the Lava Pits on AoMs (That's Angel of Masochism; this is buggy, Kornel intended for masochism to block envirosuits)
- Arena Silver Badge - Complete Hell's Arena on UV
- Scavenger Silver Badge - Scavenge the Vaults (Kill any monster and leave)
- Arachno Silver Badge - Clear out Spider's Lair on UV

The middle ground. Kornel says that the average player should strive to get all of these as a long term goal.
- UAC Gold Badge - Win Standard game on Ultra-Violence.
- Veteran Gold Badge - Win game on Ultra-Violence with 100% kills
- Strongman Gold Badge - Win Standard game using knives and fists HMP. (Modding is still OK)
- Berserker Gold Badge - Complete Angel of Berserk
- Marksman Gold Badge - Complete Angel of Marksmanship on UV
- Shottyman Gold Badge - Complete Angel of Shotgunnery on UV
- Lightfoot Gold Badge - Complete Angel of Light Travel on N!
- Eagerness Gold Badge - Complete Angel of Impatience on UV
- Runner Gold Badge - Complete Angel of Haste on UV/100%
- Inquisitor Gold Badge - Complete Angel of Purity on UV

- Marksman Platinum Badge - Angel of Marksmanship on Nightmare!
- Shottyman Platinum Badge - Angel of Shotgunnery on Nightmare!

- Demonic Diamond Badge - Win Standard Nightmare! using only fists
- Berserker Diamond Badge - Angel of Berserk on Nightmare!
- Marksman Diamond Badge - Angel of Marksmanship on N! without SoG (Here we start seeing trait restrictions)
