[edit] The doomRL wiki HELP!

[edit] What's doomRL!?

DoomRL is a DOSgame. And a very good one at that. It's an RPG (or roguelike) based on doom. If you don't know what that is, get out from that rock you've been living under! It's one of the very first shoot-em-ups! A very good one! Sheesh.

[edit] Wiki code

Here is all the code of this wiki:

'''Text''' Makes Text

''Text'' Makes Text

===Text=== Makes a heading.

==Text== Makes a different heading.

[[Link title]] Makes Link title

[http://www.example.com link title] Makes link title

[[Image:Example.jpg]] Makes a picture.

[[Media:Example.ogg]] Makes some sound.

<math>Insert formula here</math> Makes a math formula.

<nowiki>'''Text that's SUPPOSED TO BE BOLD!'''</nowiki> Makes Text that's SUPPOSED TO BE BOLD!

---- Makes a large line like you see below.

Also putting space at the beggining of line of text makes it appear like

[edit] Editing

So, you know somthing that you think other people don't? Or somthing that hasn't been added? Well we'd like to know it! After you learn how to post it.

Basics

If there's a list of things, (lets say... enemies) and you know somthing about an enemy that has been carelessly left out, then simply:

1. Click the edit button to the right of the enemies name.

2. Type in what you have to say about this enemy.

3. Click "show preview". If it's turned out the way you want, go to step 4. If not, go to 2.

4. Summarise the edit to show everyone who checks the "recent changes" page why you did this.

5. Click save page, if you only edited a small thing, then you may also want to check the "This is a minor edit" box.

More advanced stuff

If there's a list of things, (lets say... items) and someone has even more carelessly left out an item, (as in, it's not there, it doesn't even have empty stats saying N/A) then you should fix that. Here's how:

1. Go to the top of the list (if they left out rocket launcher, go to the top of weapons, NOT the top of ammunition or anything else)

2. There should be 2 edit links on the right of the title of the list, click the top.

3. Add the item by:

3a. Making a line below the very bottom one by typing 4 -s in a row. You may want to leave a space below the bottom item.

3b. Make a title for your item, by putting it's name in the middle of 6 =s, 3 to the left, 3 to the right.

3c. Add all neccesary facts. If you want bold text click the very left button above the text screen, the change the "bold text" to "Whatever you want to be bold"

4. Now that you're done, click "show preview". If it's turned out the way you want, go to 5. If not, go to 3.

5. Summarise the edit to show everyone who checks the "recent changes" page why you did this.

6. Click "save page".

Expert editing

Now the carelessness MUST STOP! Someone has left out a WHOLE LIST! If you think it's your duty to add it, then follow these steps:

1. Click the edit link at the very top-right of the page.

2. Put the title of the list in the middle of 4 = signs. (2 left, 2 right)

3. Go through steps 3a., 3b., and 3c. of the advanced section.

4. Repeat above step over and over until all of the items in the list are added.

5. Click "show preview" if it looks good, then go to step 6. If it doesn't, go to steps 3 and 4.

6. Summarise the edit to show everyone who checks the "recent changes" page why you did this.

7. Click "save page", you may want to check the "Watch this page" box, to see if someone adds to your list. (Do'h! Now you're being careless!)

Pro editing

You want a new page on the wiki? Well then, why not try this:

1. Create a link that leads nowhere on a related page. If you want it on the main page (highly doubtful, but whatever) then type this instead of just editing the main page:

(This is on a random page, not the main page) This is a random link! Once it's been completed can an admin please put it on the main page! [[Lawl, important link]]

Of course, this is a rare situation so don't worry about it.

2. Click the edit button at the top of the webpage.

3. Omigosh there's nothing! ITS BLANK! WHAT TO DO! Start by making a heading in between 4 or 2 = signs.

4. Now, make all the lists (see Expert editing) and add all the items (see More advanced stuff) and all the stats to all the items (see Basics)

5. Phew! What work. Now that you're done, click show preview. Does it look good? Is everything working? Nicly done, go to step 6. If you find somthing that doesn't work, or you need to add another thing, then do that and come back to this step.

6. Don't forget a summary! Type in something explaining why you made the page.

7. Click "save page", you may want to check the "Watch this page" box, to see if someone adds to your page.
